Châtel, the last village in the Haute-Savoie region of the Val d'Abondance, is an amphitheater at the foot of the mountains. This family resort, as pleasant in winter as in summer, has preserved its mountain traditions, its chalets and houses clad in wood and with sculpted balconies. Châtel is close to Switzerland, from which it is separated by the 1,371-meter Pas de Morgins. Around thirty farms are still active, and in summer, hundreds of dairy cows take over the mountain pastures. They provide the milk used to make Abondance AOC cheese. The village is recognized for its Quality Tourism, Green Resort, and Green Snowflake labels. Many activities are possible throughout the year, and if you're looking for things to do in Châtel or what to visit, here is a non-exhaustive top 10.
